Jig it - Cast it - Troll it - Drift it
The RONZ can be fished in any conceivable method imaginable, it is a very fishermen friendly bait that will hook fish on it's own, it just won't reel them in, that's your job. I will list various technique's that will quickly help you master the full fish catching ability of the RonZ. This is a very multifunctional soft bait and will produce results when others don't get a look. I am continually receiving success stories from all over the world. Just tie one on and go fishing with a piece of mind that you have the best possible lure that money can buy attached to your line.

Mastering the RonZ fish catching ability is to understand it and how the fish react to it. The technique used in fishing the RonZ is a little different than fishing hard surface lures. Most common mistake made by anglers is setting the hook to quickly while fishing soft baits. Too quick on the draw is my favorite say about improper hook setting, slow down the process and wait to feel the fish, not the fish feeling the bait. Fish feel instantly what they put in their mouths, with the Ronz you have plenty of time to make the hook set, relax. Think of how you would react to a fish when fishing live bait, you wouldn't be setting the hook at the first detection of a fish. With hard lures you usually get one chance to make the hook up, its got to be quick, that is why they put so many hooks on them. The more hooks to snag the fish rather than hook it. With the RonZ you will get a second and third chance to close the deal. If you are getting bumps from caution fish continue you retrieve and wait until you feel some weight of the fish before setting the hook.
Vertical jigging the RonZ continues to gain popularity among fishermen worldwide. There is now a multitude of jigs available to the angler and this style of fishing is both enjoyable and productive. It is the most effective way to fish for any fish that is feeding down bellow. This style of fishing allows the angler to target fish at any depth and present a offering. Using today's electronics one can locate the fish and send down a RonZ with pin point aucuratsy and in most cases instantaneous hook-up.

The RonZ being a soft tail jig gives you a increased advantage over metal due to it's soft tail which will be held in the mouths of fish longer then metal jigs. Many times the fish will hook its-self once the line becomes tight. The RONZ was designed to swim as it drops to the desired depth, many times a strike will occur on the drop and this can be detected by monitoring you line speed. Spinning rods seem to work better when vertical jigging the RonZ due to its lighter weight vs. heavy metal jigs. The line coming off the spool of a spinning reel offers very little resistance and allows the RonZ to swim freely while making its way to the desired depth. I always recommend the lightest head weight that conditions allow. The less weight a fish feels when picking up your offering the longer it will hold onto it. Keep in mind that the fish will hold onto the RonZ and try to swallow it. I have experimented with hook less baits and find it quite interesting how long fish will hold on to the RonZ and sometimes pull drag before discarding it.

Casting the RonZ and retrieve method is probably the most common style of fishing with the RonZ. A steady retrieve with some slight tip movement can usually entice any fish that sees it onto striking. You don't have to retrieve the RonZ as quickly as some hard lures. Take your time and give the fish plenty of time to check out the bait, the RonZ has nothing to hide. Many times the larger fish will not chase a fast moving bait knowing that the smaller fish may be in chase and will out swim them.

When casting into a school of feeding fish with the RonZ just before it hits the water come tight. let the RonZ sink a few seconds this will help keep any feeding sea birds from mistakenly garbing it. It will also allow the RonZ to sink and look like it a escaping or wounded bait fish. There are usually larger smarter fish waiting for these single easy pickings. When bluefish are chasing surface baits they are often followed by striped bass that effortlessly pickup their scrapes and any wounded prey they leave behind. It won't be long before you feel the weight of a fish and set the hook. In time you will master this technique and it will become one of your favorites for catching the larger fish out of the school.

Surf fishermen will find the hydrodynamic shape of the RonZ is also aerodynamic. The low drag and streamline shape of the RonZ will slice threw the air including head winds. Shore fishermen can now fish the favorable on shore winds and still cast far enough to reach the fish.

Trolling the RonZ is quickly becoming a favorite for anglers that prefer the troll method. One should always have at least one RonZ trolling behind the boat when returning to a drift or just looking for fish. The Hydro head design will keep this bait tracking straight with a very realistic tail wiggle. The single hook insures solid hook ups and helps to reduce weed fouling. Fish can see surface trolled baits very effective and you don't need a Christmas tree spread to get the job done. I have caught many a bass and tuna on one single RonZ trolled behind the boat in the middle of nowhere when no fish were present on top or down below

Another unique feature of the RonZ when trolled is when fish are marked below and they refuse to come up, you can go down. This is accomplished by taking your engine out of gear and slowing down. As your speed decreases the RonZ will continue to drop in the water column. As the RonZ are doping they are swimming and present themselves as bait fish.
With a little practice you can drop a trolled school of RonZ right into the feeding fish down below. If matched tackle and head weights are used all lines will track the same and tangles will be few. Once the boats forward movement is lost the engine is engaged and all RonZ will swim back up to surface and the process can be repeated.

I have received numerous reports from tuna trolling boats of running a single RonZ in there spread of squid rigs. They report that some days the single RonZ is the only producer of their spread and saves the day. More of these troll boats are now just trolling 5 to 8 rods with RonZ on them creating there own school of bait fish. Their only problem is they experience full spread hook-ups and the fire drill begins, but no ones seems to complain.

The RonZ has been used on planers with great success both fresh and saltwater and can be fished from down riggers with exciting results. Fish them off your kites in low wind conditions and you will be amazed with the results. They drive the fish wild and the strikes can be ferocious and entertaining. They fish will hold onto the RonZ long enough for you to come tight and set the hook.

Drifting the RonZ method is also known as dead sticking. The Ronz is simply let out or cast away from the boat some distance and the rods are placed in the rod holder. The boat is now at a drift and any rocking of wave action moves the boat that move the rods that make the RonZ wiggle. That's it, fish on and reel them in. Most fish will hold onto the RonZ and hook themselves, they just won't let go until it's too late. This style of fishing is great when you want to take a break and relax but still continue fishing.

You can incorporate this dead stick technique while vertical jigging as the baits will scope out away from the boat and not get tangle with your vertical baits. By using different size Ronz you can cover different water depths and improve your hook-up ratio. Very few lures and soft baits have the action at drift speeds to entice a strike. The RonZ will amaze you when it hooks a fish for you by itself. It may be the best soft bait you ever tie on to the end of your line. But as good as the RonZ thinks it is it still can't reel in a fish, it needs us, the fishermen.
